THE END OF A PARTY?

Last week the Republican Party met to interview the gentleman that intended to run against Michele Madigan.  I was told that he is well qualified for the position and gave a very good speech.  However, when he was finished, Donna Buckley jumped up and started screaming at the fellow and that was followed by some harsh words by Mrs. Scirocco.  Skip then rose and finally put more than 5 words together and pledged that if the Party endorsed this candidate he would not help in any way to get him elected saying that he has a great relationship working with Madigan, at this point the meeting was closed and everyone fled the room.  The gentleman now feels he doesn't want to challenge Madigan because of lack of support from his own Party.  It seems this is one example that  Madigan has turned to the Republican Party.  Only in Saratoga!

  7. The Dems should prepare for the same thing from Madigan and Matheisen in an effort to block Sarah Burger and a DPW candidate. These parties need to stand up to the triumvirate !

  9. tri·um·vi·rate
    /trīˈəmvərət,trīˈəmvəˌrāt/

    noun

    1. (in ancient Rome) a group of three men holding power, in particular ( the First Triumvirate ) the unofficial coalition of Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus in 60 BC and ( the Second Triumvirate ) a coalition formed by Antony, Lepidus, and Octavian in 43 BC.

And this is the form of government that Saratoga Springs has chosen.

  15. Republican not challenging Madigan in Saratoga Springs
Posted on April 22, 2015 | By Dennis Yusko

A certified public accountant who wanted to run for Saratoga Springs finance commissioner on the Republican line suddenly dropped his prospective candidacy after facing opposition from a group of GOP Committee members led by Public Works Commissioner Anthony Scirocco, officials said.

Joseph Di Geso, a senior account manager at Juniper Networks, told the committee at a recent meeting that he wanted to challenge Finance Commissioner Michele Madigan, a Democrat, but he later decided not to pursue the party’s endorsement because he didn’t have the full support of the committee, members said. Scirocco and Donna Buckley, an employee of the Public Works Department, objected to Di Geso’s candidacy at the committee meeting, according to those who were there.

Scirocco told party members that he works well with Madigan, city GOP Chairman Steve Rodriguez said. Rodriguez confirmed De Giso decided against pursuing the party’s endorsement. He said De Giso, who also goes by the name Guiseppe on his LinkedIn profile, has “impeccable credentials,” but some party members expressed concern that he was fairly new to the committee. The party has endorsed several candidates for this fall’s election, but not one to challenge Madigan.

Buckley declined comment. Scirocco did not respond to questions.

  16. The Republican leadership has to have rocks in their heads. You have a qualified candidate to challenge a Democrat and they will not endorse him basically because he is new. The Republicans do not want new blood, only the old guard. It's no wonder the Party is falling apart. You have a Republican Commissioner and his Deputy arguing to keep the Democrat from having a Republican opponent. Only in Saratoga.

    1. If the blog is biased and bad why are you commenting here? Di Geso is a Republican. The Republicans are afraid to take a chance on someone they don't have dirt on so he can be controlled. If you mean that you are everyone, your statement is idiotic. Democrats wouldn't put a Republican up to run and then support him, and I think everyone knows that.

      Delete
    2. That is a very true statement the republicans need dirt to run a candidate. The problem is that the dirt they had on Skip got dug up by someone else.

    1. John Franck had a challenger 2 years ago and will have one this year. I think that voters should have a choice at election time, but Franck's Party didn't throw him out the door like the Republicans did to De Giso. I even remember when the Democrats helped Skippy out and wouldn't run anyone against him for a few terms. If I were a Replubican candidate right now I wouldn't trust my Party or city GOP Chairman Steve Rodriguez to be of any help to me.

  21. Sorry Cap, but it was stated at that Republican committee meeting that DiGeso was supported by none other than your friends the McTygues, who have been gunning for Madigan and Mathiesen for quite some time due to their refusal to follow orders from Mayor McYepsen. Their cousin Sarah B is friends with Di Geso and is advocating for him to anyone who will listen. Those are facts.
Why would Republicans want to endorse someone with that kind of baggage who is likely to go after McTygue enemy number 1 - Skip - if he were to get elected?

    1. I didn't think Yepsen would have been as good a Mayor as she has been. She has been working with 3 of the most nastiest detractors in Saratoga political history and 2 of them from her own Party. She has shown poise and has shown that she is willing to work with them but she has not only been rebuffed but laughed at on the Council table. It is getting so bad that the public is now taking the 3 majority Commissioner's (Madigan, Metheisen and Scirocco) to task at the public comment period for causing such incivility. These 3 have to realize that not only can the meetings be seen on the computer but also seen & heard on TV, their smugness and body language comes through and is seen by a large number of voters. I don't think Yepsen will 'drive' to make peace with Scirocco, she will keep doing what she thinks is best for Saratoga and hope the 3 Amigos wake up and do the same, not that they have to agree all the time but not to vote against her just to vote against her.

  34. Madigan, Mathiesen, Scirocco have long ago learned that they can control the Council if they stick together. The name of the game is to make Joanne look bad and cut her up as much as possible. Franck plays it down the middle. Charley Brown and the Democratic Committee does nothing to knock heads and stop this BS and ensure that the Two of the Gang of Three support Joanne show her respect during Council meetings. Instead they are out drinking after the Council meetings with Skippy, Eileen Finneran and Shauna Sutton, cooking up the next by the next scheme to make Joanne look bad. Valerie Keehn joined the Three Fools at the Council table to play the Blame it on the McTygue Game to to undermine Joanne. Valerie Keehn, who works in Albany and lives in Schenectady, had to stick her nose into this publicly too. But that boomeranged. People resented it.

A lot of the rancor and venom by Madigan and Matthiesen, apart from Madigan's blind ambition to be Mayor, is fomented by Finneran who as former Deputy Mayor under Valerie can't let go of the feud between Tom McTygue and Valerie in 2006/2007 which knocked both of them out of office. By "getting Joanne" this gang of cutthroats think they are getting the McTygues, Billy and Tommy. Pure and simple this is a smokescreen and diversion which so far has fooled the public while the Gang of Three wreak havoc for Saratoga residents with stupid moves like the Collamer deal and expensive Union Ave. emergency lot deal, now under State investigation whuch they can't make go away., the City Center parking lot deal and general mismagement of the valuable City-owed land on the hillside behind City Hall, the giveaway of the water connection fees to Bonacio, then abolishing that whole program in the midst of a State investigation, eliminating that revenue stream while raising water fees on eery new utilities bill and giving Bonacio a valuable piece of Congress Park on which to build a patio (they knew exactly what they were doing) and numerous other corrupt and dumb moves - dumb in thinking they could get away with it by Blaming it on the McTygues when the records clearly show that this happened on Skippy's watch. Another matter for State investigation. At the end this will be like the last episode of Seinfeld - all of the Gang of Three together in jail.

  36. At this council meeting on May 5, 2015 Skip is having the Mayor sign a bid awarding $265,000 to a Caulking company to replace the stairs in the parking garage. This is more than he spent on the front steps to city hall.
When you attempt to look up the bid on the city web site at

  41. May 22 at 11:22 AM hit the nail on the head. "Madigan, Mathiesen, Scirocco have long ago learned that they can control the Council if they stick together." It is absolutely unforgivable when council members get the crazy idea that the "majority rules"! What would become of the county, state, or nation if their legislative bodies allowed the majority of the elected officials to control them?! Its a good thing we don't let that happen anywhere else but in Saratoga Springs.
    Oh, wait.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I get your point but in the current Council, is the majority casting votes for the sake of voting against someone (namely the Mayor)? We have seen the meetings in person & on TV and it looks like the 3 amigos surely are playing games, so much so that citizens are now voicing concerns about the actions of these 3 at Council meetings.

Here are some examples of 'majority rules'

In America (as well as in Saratoga) majority rules. That only seems fair, right? How could a whole bunch of people believing the same thing be wrong? I mean, look at the people in Christ’s day who voted against Him, or the Germans in World War II who voted for Hitler?
Wait, those are probably bad examples of 'majority rules', right?

Could it be that our Councils, Madigan, Mathiesen, Scirocco's majority opinions in many cases just really a stupid ploy?
