THIS JUST IN
It just came over the Justice League ticker (you can take it for what ever you want), that there may have been a three way deal in the Saratogian's non endorsement of Proposition 1 after years of calling for Charter Change. here is the possible deal:
The Adirondack Trust receives the small parking lot on the corner of Woodlawn from the City, thus enhancing their drive up entrance.
The City gets A+ plus coverage and cover up promises on stories that may have to do with the Mayor's office.
The Saratogian receives choice stories over other news outlets and increased add revenue from Adirondack Trust.
It may be something that is just a rumor and we will be keeping our eye on the developments, but it does sound logical.
Another thing: I'll be glad when this election is over.
I have been trying to connect the dots on whether there is any connection to the Saratogian frequently featuring ads for Circus Cafe and the mayor's business interests in that establishment
ReplyDeleteThe one thing about Saratoga Springs that people who moved here don't understand, is that most 'native' Saratogian’s dislike the fact that people who move in from elsewhere and get involved in any civic work, whether it be service organizations, politics or businesses can gain an amount of success. Most of the natives, I dislike to say it, HATE 'outsiders'. So, you can see why the old money people circle the wagons if anything that might change to ruin their group of power mad insanity. Since Johnson is a relatively new $27 million dollar man and was born in N.J. you would think you could cut him some slack, however since he is the Mayor and owns several businesses I am sure the Saratogian would do any favors it could do.
DeleteSo yes, you may have something there.
An ad "advertisement" is paid for by the advertiser. If you see an ad for a business, regardless of who is the owner of the business, it is "paid for" by the advertiser.
ReplyDeleteWhy someone would think there is a reason to think that the newspaper is in bed with an advertiser, is ludicrous, and just plain stupid.
Why? Because a business like Circus Cafe, which does numbers that would make the district manager of Chili's cream his pants doesn't NEED to advertise. Even then, they're black and white ads on the inside, which likely means they weren't paid for. The illusion that other businesses, especially a successful on such as Circus, advertise with the paper might swing other businesses to do the same.
DeleteYou are thinking like a child. Newspapers have been in bed with businesses and politicians for centuries, do you really think that Saratoga is that pure? Take off your rose colored glasses.
