CUT ANOTHER TREE

Have you started to receive political paper at your house yet?  Door hangers and political ads have started to be dumped by Republican candidates, so you can expect the Democrats to follow suit soon.

The DROP seems to be starting a little early this year, but then again there are a couple of primaries in September.  PLEASE don’t throw your junk pieces away, give them back to the candidates so they can save on printing more junk pieces.

Has anyone else noticed that whenever the Mayor has been at any event lately that makes the newspaper accompanied by a picture, Shauna Sutton is somewhere in there, like a Where’s Waldo picture?

Well a new book store opens and the best Italian restaurant in the area burns down, happy and sad in the same day, however, Broadway will be that much better for having Northshire Books and Ballston Spa and our whole area will be glad when Augie’s is back up and running.  Augie’s is having a fundraiser for their staff, you can go here http://bit.ly/16YsPyx
to make a donation, starting at $25.00, businesses, area restaurants, customers and those touched by the effort of Augie have been supporting the fund.  On the website he says this:
“Augie's Family Style Italian Restaurant had a fire. The entire place was condemned. The most important headline of the day is that no one was hurt. Things can be replaced - and we will rebuild. However, while we rebuild, our faithful and amazing staff will be temporarily out of work. As per the nature of being service staff, supporting them is difficult when much of their money comes in as tips for their superb and amazing service.
We are making a fund for those who have experienced the service from Augie's to help hold over our employees while we rebuild. We hope we have the community reach out and help the staff. Nothing is more important to us than our dedicated and friendly service staff. Without them, there wouldn't be an Augie's.

Where the money goes:

The money raised will go towards the service staff's hold-over budget - split as we normally do with tips and money raised with normal business at Augie's. We will use the funds to assist our employees while they are out of work during rebuilding. Any remainder of the funds (in case we rebuild faster than estimated) will go towards local homeless shelters in the 518.
Those who assist will receive a one-time coupon good for a percentage discount off of their bill upon reopening - applicable for in-house dining. We will also have a page built on our website showing who loves and supports the Augie's staff. “
Augie, a classy guy and a businesses man dedicated to the well being of his employees.

  1. Welcome Home! Yes!!! I've also noticed Shauna's "mug" being all over the papers lately. Seems Mayor Johnson is going to be promoting her for his position anytime he can. Too bad it won't work, they're "2 peas from the same pod"!

  2. Geez Ricky,he won three times why wouldn't someone want his endorsement?? Yepsen got crushed by Roy the Boy,she's kinda past tense, like you and your saratoga citizen--yepsen.kane and mctygue==the hammer will come down again, yepsen ain't as popular as you try to make her....city elections are different there out of your control......some people never learn...are you one of them ric thompson?

  3. First off, I have no idea what you are talking about, but just keep talking because it's funny. If you are talking about "Roy the Boy" as in (Roy Mac Donald) crushing Yepsen, you are drinking the wrong stuff and better check the results where it counts. Yepsen beat Roy in Saratoga Springs.

  4. Roy was never popular in Saratoga Springs ricky you could probably beat him...Shauna on the other hand is home grown which in this case is a big plus,Yepsen along with the other dem.candidates are to cozy with Unions and there will be a big back lash against them.

  6. The SSFD and State Fire are looking that the Woodlawn Ave fire as an electrical fire that started in electrical upgrades, done without the benefit of building permits from the Mayors Office last summer.
Seems the building department told the builder to go ahead as they did not have the manpower to do the plan review, or inspections. The SSFD did the required annual inspections but there was no valid Certificate of Occupancy from the Building Department for the renovations.
The renovations were required by the insurance company. The insurance company is now refusing to pay because no permit was pulled or certificate of occupancy, as required. Looks as if the city is on the hook for the insurance payment for this fire because the building department authorized the renovations without doing the review. State fire has the building department file with the notes.

  7. I love how Shauna & friends continue to tote the fact that she's a Sutton & "home grown" therefore she's the best candidate for the position of mayor. She is far from being the best candidate, ask 90 percent of the people working in city hall. She is a very mean spirited women that will very easily stick a knife in your back after smiling at you face to face. She's a women who has no idea what this city needs nor does she care. Her main objective is to feel important and shit on the people that disagree with her. She's poison, she's toxic!!

    1. It is bigoted to base the assessment of ones abilities on where one was born. If I said that I was a better candidate because I was born an Asian born in Asia there would be charges of racism. So how is it OK for Sutton to promote her home grown status and a Sutton?

    2. don't you ever forget this:
"Sutton is one of the important names here in Saratoga Springs, make a note of it".

Seen on this blog first. If you read into the meaning of that statement, you will find your answer.

  8. Captain, thank you for your articles. You prove that one doesn't have to write a blog every day to get people thinking and you add a bit of humor as well. Keep up the good work.

  9. How many noticed Shauna Sutton in the winners circle giving out the Fab Filly trophy yesterday INSTEAD of Mayor Johnson! She's making use of all the FREE press!!!

  10. Kyle - Did you ever consider who made the decision to utilize the Rec Center as a short term home for the people who were left homeless. The rec Center is under the jurisdiction of the Mayor. Did he need to make a major announcement??
Did the mayor make the decision or did Shauna, acting Mayor?

Funny you never denied being Pat Kane. Why don't you drop the charade and take credit for you work.

If you believe it you should be proud of it.
Grown man pretending to be comic book character is kind of childish for a GE trainer.

  16. This happened at the Jamesway fire years ago.
As a firefighter at the Woodlawn fire, one of the significant pieces of "equipment" that was missing was WATER. First arriving units connected to hydrants that couldn't provide sufficient flow. The 3 hydrants that were tried on Woodlawn were all insufficient. The hydrant that finally supplied enough flow was on Broadway in front of Forno Bistro. By this time it was too late to make an effective stop (imho)
This is just one example of the state of the water mains around the city. To assist the SSFD, if DPW could go around and flow test every hydrant and mark them accordingly (NFPA 291)http://www.firehydrant.org/inf... . I personally believe they may find that there are a great major of the hydrants will be "RED" capped.
To the tax payers, this is one of the most inexpensive "equipment" changes there could be. The hydrants are flushed yearly anyway, so test the flow while its being done. Then, paint the top the corresponding color. Added expense a few gallons of paint.
The proceeding is an individual firefighter opinion and in no way represents the opinions of the individuals employer or his affiliated union (IAFF Local 343).
    Thank you for your time.

  17. The hydrants are already color coded to the size of the main that is feeding it. Red and blue are the smallest (4"-6"), while orange (the color of the ones on b'way) and brown are the largest (12"-14"). So I figure this is something important that should be passed along to your union brothers. Find out what the colors mean, not being snarky, just pointing out that there are several colors and I don't know exact specific pipe sizes to color, but going to the hydrant that is connected to a bigger water main should get you plenty of pressure, you just need to know how they rank. Thanks for your service.

    1. Right you are, I do think that the hydrants should be painted again so the color would stand out better, they run from dull to just chips of color.
