SKIP, THE THEATER DISTRICT BALLERINA

After many years of the citizens of Saratoga trying to tell the Council that they wanted a multi-use Parking Garage that would bring in million's to the City every year the Council of Doom (Madigan, Matheisen & Scirocco) did not listen and went ahead with the Mark Baker Garage which pays the City $50,000.00 per year.  This new move of creating a Theater District in the unused area of the lot is designed only to see that the City Center pay’s its debt down as there was no way it can do so now (it has an annual deficit, and the bedroom tax it relies on is dwindling) and Baker's figures changed faster that Skip could say huh?

Now it is to be believed that Skippy the Wonder Boy after years of not making any sense at meetings or with contract workers or developers, save for one, comes up with a grandiose design (shown in Sunday's Saratogian) and we are led to believe that this 'District' was conceived by him.

I read the article which took most of the morning because I just couldn't stop laughing at his quotes.  The one that stood out to me was the reasoning for this Theater District.  Skip is a closet theater lover “I like theater, but I don’t go very often,” he said. “Mostly I’ve seen high school plays. I’ve never actually been to a Broadway show. So this plan is just something I think would be good for the city. It’s not because I have a personal theatrical agenda.” why this alone could make him a large lover of the theater.  I have to tell you, if this was the Skipper’s idea, he has been wasting his life; he should have been a planner for the City rather than chasing dogs.

I will dare say another thought crossed my mind, guess who will be building this Theater District?  I’ll bet that it will be Sonny Bonaccio, after all he had one of his top men on the Citizen’s Committee that brought back their ideas on the RFP’s why the multi-use garage wouldn’t work and he was appointed by non-other than Skip’s femme fatale Michele Madigan, so the saying Follow The Money still has merit.

Scirocco was quoted “We want this to be new, innovative and modern,” Scirocco said. “But we want to keep the historic connection, too. The city is so well-suited to this idea, being a community of the arts.”  Yep!  This is right next to a generic, concrete & brick ugly parking garage.  He also stated “Some benefits of a High Rock theater district would include extending Broadway show business from New York City north to Saratoga Springs; providing a year-’round economic powerhouse; offering high-quality space in which local and out-of-town troupes can perform”  I am almost sure that if ‘What’s New Pussycat’ is playing in this theater there will be busloads coming to Saratoga from NYC, ’What is Marcia from SPAC going to think about this competition?  Wasn’t one of the big reasons she objected to the Racino’s small facility was because it would give SPAC (a 4 month venue) competition?  If competition is good for business, has the Skipster changed his mind about the convention building at the Racino?  Will he now support this venue because it will bring in more small conventions and music groups, helping the City’s pocket book and again he said competition is good?

I think the next logical move would be for the Siamese majority of Madigin, Matheisen & Scirocco to build a facility on the Farmer’s Market land and construct a building that could house the National Dog Pageants typically shown on the USA network, heck we already have Miss Pekinese living on North Broadway, the Miss Capital District Pageants and all sorts of other things to use the parking garage and make some more historical moments for Saratoga.

We better watch out, Skippy is thinking outside the box, if it really is him and not the Art District we are in big trouble.

  1. The deputy Dawg DB came up with this idea in her delusions of grandeur. If she believes that Broadway, or other theaters in Albany of Schenectady, will ever allow the competition in Saratoga she it once again delusional, as always.
This type of idea is why the Comptrollers office is looking at Saratoga. Municipalities are supposed to do things that help the entire city that private industry can or will not do. Cities are not supposed to turn a profit. A theater, private industry can do. The city should stay out of it.

  2. Scirrocko loves the theater although he admits he's never been, kind of funny this idiot didn't mention this before....putting a airport there would have been more in line with his way of thinking

  3. I heard that Dr. Mathieson is planning to build a parking garage for all the police vehicles. There are 8-10 on Maple Ave at any given time of the day,.....taking up that many prime parking spaces EVERY DAY, ALL DAY.
Or will they be give prime spaces in the new Baker garage?

  5. “What makes Milestone so attractive is that it allows the city to invest in a system that’s ready to use and also can handle scalable expansion in conjunction with the city’s growth,” says Marilyn Rivers, Director of Risk and Safety for the City of Saratoga Springs.
How much did she make off of this?

  6. Have you seen the agenda for May 2, 2016?

Skippy rejected all pest management bids. So since right around election day the bedbugs were a huge problem, and have been multiplying. Nothing has been done about the bedbugs for the last 6 months, and now he is rejecting all bids because he screwed it up? Either cityhall is crawling with bugs or it was no problem at all and he just wanted the attentions at election time.
Also I have been on the sidewalk and curbing list for more then a year trying to pay the city to fix my sidewalk for $20 per square foot of curbing. Not really sure what a square foot of curbing is as it is usually measured in liner feet.
So Skippy has an agenda item about curbing in front of his own house. Why does he get sidewalks and curbing when I have been on the list for more then a year. Oh that is right he can cut the line.

  7. Saratoga Public Works used to have it's own sidewalk crew but the Skipster eliminated it. This means that his Highness contracts the work out and instead of the City realizing the monies from the homeowner it is now given to an outside firm. Also, remember that Skippy did his whole street over with new sewer and pavement last year so it surely follows that his own street get priority on sidewalks as this is how he works. I am surprised why her buttness doesn't call for him to resume the sidewalk crew as well as the water hookup fees (they are after all on the same team) to get more money in the City purse because when Schenectady Casino is up and running and Albany's new Convention Center is opened we will suffer if they aren't pro-active instead of being the re-active nuts they are, at least the Racino is taking pro-active steps now. This is another sign that Skippy has no clue about managing his department. You can be a popular dummy in Saratoga and get elected to run a department you know nothing about. Sweet.

  8. The last popular dummy that I knew was Charlie McCarthy.

    1. Well, there you go, you are on same train of thought. Saratoga Springs version of the dummy Charlie McCarthy is the dummy Skip Scirocco and we know who pulls his strings although I can't quite figure our how she does it with the Mayor sitting between them.

    2. You know how Mad-again pulls Skippys strings. Mad-again and dawg-buckley are drinking buddies. Dawg-Buckley has something on Skippy that she holds over his head, why else would he keep her. She then does Mad-agains bidding because Mad-again is buckley's next victim.

  9. 11:13 I believe you're hit the nail on the head, except you forgot the Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety! All three of these "Ladies" (using the term VERY loosely) are seen all over town bellying up to the bar, especially after the council mtgs.

  12. This council is a Three Ring Circus! Never thought I'd ever say this or feel this, it's time to change our form of government!

    1. Yes it is and it's sad that 3 of them are the biggest clowns ever on the Council. I am not saying that the Mayor is perfect but the other three show that they have no class and don't even know their place in the Charter. As Matheisen boldly said the form of government has to be changed which surprised many that the statement came out of his mouth and he was berated by Madigan after the meeting, so I was told. I am in the process of writing a new piece some of which will touch on the alleged illegal acts by the 3 Musketeers and other tidbits. May I use your post on that article also? Thanks

  13. Of course Cap! Would you be able to investigate on any progress made with th AG's investigation of Scirocco & DPW? It's my understanding that Stan Borden has retired. Has his lawsuit against the city & Scirocco been resolved?

    1. Thank you, yes I'll find out about the lawsuit. Maybe Madigan found some money in the budget to buy him off?

I believe you are mistaken. That is not Fingering that is Rivers, as in Marilyn Rivers, bellying up to the bar. What better way to set up a shadow government than to have Public Works, Finance and Risk and Safety all collude together to do as they please.
Mad-again just cuts or adds to the budget when she wants something. DPW is the fixer because Skippy is the third vote and does what he is told, and R&S can manipulate anything she wants as not being safe or a risk to the city. The deputy commissioner of public safety is an after thought if these three need to clean up a mess.

  15. I have been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It's pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.

SO this is why Skippy is amending the capital budget at the council table to circumvent the capital budget process and avoid the scrutiny of the AG, Comptrollers office and the city tax payer. It is either that or this is demonstrating that he has absolutely no planning or management skills.

  18. Every couple of years "the turd" from royal henly ct. makes an appearance at a city council meeting to voice his partisan concerns and tries to make something out of nothing.....one would think "the turd"would be concerned about the millions of tax dollars his monkey brained friend and fellow republican stooge scricco is giving the big developers in the city!
