ELECTION NIGHT REFLECTIONS

Right now it looks like the Council table will have 4 Democrats and 1 Republican.  Congratulations to everyone that ran.  It has been rumored for some time now that if a Republican won, Shauna Sutton would be their Deputy, all of City Hall is shuddering if this comes to pass however, her role will be severely diminished and she will most likely have to do the paving and leaf pick up, among other physical jobs.

Shauna needs 2 more terms in office to qualify for lifetime health insurance paid for by the citizens of Saratoga Springs.

Also, there has been a rumor floating around that the reason that Scott Johnson did not run was because he wants to challenge Paul Tonko for Tonko’s Congress seat.  Good luck with that Scott.  Tonko is as popular among both parties as is Jim Tedisco.  Scott will never make it to Congress, but don’t tell Shauna who had a slip of the tongue election night when she said “In a few years, Scott, you and I might be working together again.” *Saratogian*.   Let’s hope Johnson goes and parks himself in Florida to work on his lobster tan and Shauna either works for Skip (where she will be 5th fiddle) on a Council of 4 Democrats.
The race where the absentee ballots might change the outcome is the race for DPS.  The spread right now is about 121 votes for the incumbent, and if the number of the ballots that have arrived already it looks like Mathiesen will take the seat.

In closing, we say adios to Scott Johnson, it was nice knowing you, but we’re glad you are going.  Shauna, we are just super glad you’re going and hope it’s not true about Skip hiring you.

  1. Shauna as Skippy's deputy has been a rumor from the very beginning. As a matter of fact, she is already working on two different dpw projects along with Deputy Donna who has become a close buddy of Shauna's.

I am so happy that Joanne will be a new mayor. With her in the mayor's seat Mr. Scirocco will not be able to get away with all his shady money shuffle within his budget.

    1. I am vry happy also. JoAnn will see for herself that Scirocco is above board. Shauna was never going to be Skip's Deputy, wrong again. Pat Design left Skip when he found out that the Budget was cut 9.8 in 2008, 9.1 in 3013, !58 employees in 2008, 124 in 2013. People have left and retired and they have hired about 5. Still down 34 people. I can prove what I say can you. Please feel free to foil it. Remember when you take away things from DPW you don't hurt Skippy, you hurt the TAX PAYER.

    2. we'll see about the Deputy's poost. She does need the income and that's the only Dept. open right now unless Wirth pulls it out. You better check the reason Design left hint 11-6 comment. Skip is a nice guy but he is clueless as is his Deputy, anyone knows that if the Commissioner is sitting next to Donna, you have to speak with her and get her approval then Skip will follow her lead. Your comment about Skip being above board, just look at the water deal between Wilton, which he made himself with no knowledge from the Council, who paid for the paving of Railroad Place (the new apts, Price Chopper and Move Cinema?) No grant money, no citizen money, the contractor is responsible, also he has to go around to Division St. side and pave that. Check out (ask Donna) how many gallons of water Bog Meadow pumps out a day. What you are trying to tell me is that since 2008 DPW lost 282 employees and have only hired 5 back? You better FOIL the info.

  2. Really disturbing that Kyle York died the day after the election. Sutton is a very important name in Saratoga.

  3. Kyle was a decent man. Sutton-Dowd has besmeared the family name for years, too bad for that also.

  6. Kyle knew his local politics, that's for sure. Sorry to hear of his death, and sorry to hear that it was no doubt a very painful death.
Yeah, Sutton WAS an important name in Saratoga, not any more.
Does anyone really believe that she will get up at 4 am to plow snow like the other deputies did in DPW?

  7. Shauna Must Have 2 more years on the council to receive life-time health bennies for her & the Hubby. Skippy has promised those years. SO? The only way for her to continue to sit @ that table is by being named his deputy. There's no funding for the Director's job & that wouldn't help her anyway. Doesn't matter she has no experience but this should b very interesting. Guess we'll know soon. Poor Timmy Cogan:-(. Glad 2 c Madigan shot Skippy's request 4 another accounts clerk. Seems he's going 2 have a very difficult time @ the council table come January!

  9. Sutton is a very important name in Saratoga Springs, get used to it. ha ha

I can see her plowing snow at 3 am, yeah right?
I can see her going eye to eye with one of those DPW tough guys, yeah right?
I can see her getting the respect from the street sweepers, truck drivers, leaf pickers, etc. yeah sure.
She gets the nod for deputy, and people at DPW will slack off right before her eyes.
